Meet Giacum Frei

Where better to build a heliskiing business than in the Hazeltons? That's what Giacum Frei thought when he first launched Skeena Heliskiing in 2004. After all, the Hazeltons are surrounded by world-class mountain and river scenery and are rife with opportunities for extreme outdoor adventure. Hazelton itself is a wonderful small town that offers an affordable lifestyle, quick access to the outdoors, quality businesses (like the Skeena Bakery, one of his personal favourites) and services and all the free parking you could ever ask for.

Most of all, Giacum appreciates the people who live here. They're what really makes the community great. Because the population is small, everyone knows everyone and people take care of one another. Not only do they care for their fellow community members, but they have a deep appreciation for their local business owners and the contributions they make to the culture and economy of the Hazeltons.

Giacum is an outdoors enthusiast himself, so operating a business that caters to outdoors lovers and celebrates the fun that nature provides is a dream-come-true. When Giacum is not busy making sure his guests have the time of their lives, he is off on adventures of his own, which usually involve hiking or fishing. He appreciates the ability that business ownership provides to do what he loves to do and to be creative and innovative, putting ideas to work and enjoying the rewards that hard work brings.
